who is china tea leaves?

Two Americans, artists by nature, Greta an architectural designer, Jim a writer, brought to China by work, coming to love 中国 (zhong guo) and its people.

We live in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, a city that is barely 30 years old, in a country that is over 5,000 years old. China of course to an outsider is overwhelming, four times the population of the US and over twenty times older than the States, massive, stereotyped, famous, but mysterious. But once you land, say 谢谢 (xie xie) to one grateful and impressed Mandarin speaker, learn one meaningful character, taste one authentic dish, come to know just one genuine thing about the Middle Kingdom, you will be hooked and want to know more, see more. China will not disappoint.

We hope China Tea Leaves gives a unique perspective on China, from “foreigners” living in the Middle Kingdom, who have a firsthand experience of this incredible culture. We’re trying to open up a little bit of China to the world, in its puzzles and its charms, to show in colour, story, and poem a sense of China that you can’t get from a black and white text.

Hello Greta, hope you’re well. I’m the founder of a travel startup http://www.yourlocalcousin.co where we connect travelers with locals for customized trip planning. I couldn’t find your email so writing here to see if you’d be interested in becoming a local on our platform and getting paid to give recommendations to travelers visiting Shenzen and other parts of China. Let me know. thanks – Kunal

I joined the Yuanna tour in April 2017, it was a nice tour with different perspective travelling with ‘foreigners’! I enjoyed the experience. Greta’s knowledge and fluency on Chinese Mandarin (verbal and written) is exceptional! I’m so impressed and amazed!

Thanks so much for your feedback, Miranda! I’m so happy you were part of our group in Yunnan – our little family for 9 days! I’m working hard to keep creating great trips for people in SZ and Hong Kong, so let me know what you think people would enjoy! Hope to see you again sometime!
